CENTRE FOR GENDER AND ENVIRONMENT

WHO ARE WE?

The Centre for Gender and Environment works on issues of environment and gender, with a focus on India. Founded on the principles of gender, equality, and environmental justice, the organization is committed to building initiatives and developing capacities among stakeholders and within communities to articulate issues of social and environmental justice.

What we do?

Village workshops

We conduct training and awareness workshops in villages, where the repercussions of climate change and chemical-intensive farming are often felt the most.

Through these workshops, we empower local communities with practical knowledge of sustainable farming practices, emphasizing the importance of agroecology and organic farming. This not only helps mitigate climate change but also reduces the health risks associated with chemical inputs.

College lectures workshops

We conduct capacity-building workshops and online courses tailored for civil society organizations and professionals in the development sector. Our programs focus on enhancing skills in documentation and research, specifically addressing critical areas such as social issues, ecology, environmental justice, and gender justice.

Awareness and community building

As part of our organization's awareness programs and community-building efforts in light of climate change, we conduct cleanup drives and nature-based activities in the forest. Engage in rejuvenating forest bathing experiences while discovering the vital role of forests and the broader importance of nature. These initiatives aim to foster awareness and unity in preserving our natural world through hands-on participation and educational sessions.

Alternative perspectives on climate change

We focus on developing learning and understanding alternative perspectives in the climate change discourse. Our efforts delve into the historical evolution of Earth and human systems, as well as the social, political, and economic systems and institutions contributing to climate change. By exploring these aspects, we aim to broaden awareness and foster informed discussions on the complexities of our environmental challenges.
